Who It Suits
The difference between Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay and a conventional Passover hotel is structural rather than cosmetic. There is no main block of rooms. The resort is built as 97 private villas, each with its own pool and its own walled garden, which changes how a family actually experiences the eight days.
It suits three kinds of guest in particular. Families with young children, because the pool is yours and nap times do not have to be negotiated around a crowded terrace. Multi-generational groups, because a two-bedroom villa keeps grandparents and grandchildren under one roof without anyone sharing a bathroom. And families who want more privacy at the table. All meals are served in the resort restaurants, and private Sedarim can be booked with the Sarah Tours team.
It suits one kind of guest less well. If the appeal of a Passover programme for you is the crowd, the noise and the sense of a full hall at every meal, a villa resort will feel quiet, and our Marina Smir programme may suit you better. That is worth knowing before you book rather than after.
A Day On The Programme
Mornings begin with minyan, followed by the Sarah Breakfast Market — Israeli, Moroccan, American, Mediterranean and French, with a large selection of French cheeses. Shiurim run through the late morning for those who want them.
Afternoons are deliberately unprogrammed on most days. The beach, the pools, the hammam and the tennis and padel courts are all on the estate, and the Kids Club takes younger children so parents get a genuine break. On Chol Hamoed the optional excursions run — Chefchaouen and Tétouan for the medinas, Tangier for the port, Fes for the Jewish quarter, and a Gibraltar day for guests whose passports allow it.
Evenings return to the dining rooms for a full Glatt Kosher Lamehadrin service, with live music through Chol Hamoed and the Grand Mimouna at the close of the festival. Nothing on the programme is compulsory. The kitchen, the minyan and the childcare run whether you attend or not.
